M-Bodied® Coaching is thrilled to announce that both Caroline and Nick Gebhardt were featured and contributed to children's technology expert Titania Jordan’s newest release Parental Control: A Guide to Raising Balanced Kids in the Digital Era. Drawing from her expertise as a co-founder of Bark Technologies, a leading internet safety company as well as her own personal experience as a parent of a teenager, Jordan explores the good, the bad, and the ugly aspects of how the digital world is affecting children both today, and tomorrow.

Caroline Gebhardt, who is a licensed mental health counselor and parent coach, offered her expertise about early brain/body development and the need for connection with elders for co-regulation rather than an increase of relying on screens. She focuses on how parents and elders get to be the anchors, the Circles of Support, for their children at various stages of development and how to navigate the digital dimension for embodiment rather than disembodiment.

As a mother of three school-age children, Caroline shares her experiences in how she’s danced with screen usage with children in different grade levels and school environments, working with educators in schools, along with parents at home, to help kids become curious in using screens for more age-appropriate information-seeking and embodied entertainment rather than escapism. Because of the sharp rise of more technology in education, Caroline advocates on behalf of her children, and their peers, for increased playtime in schools as well as pointing to the science that supports movement for healthy brain development and satisfying relationships.

“Studies show the importance and value of play and movement as paths toward intrinsic

motivation and healthy brain development. As we as a culture—within

education and home life—become more dependent upon screens as a way to pass time

or due to a lack of resources, we unconsciously rob the next generation of exploring

various ways of being present and attuned to their appetite for life.”

Additionally, writer and M-Bodied parent coach Nick Gebhardt played a role in the book content, helping to coordinate with Ms. Jordan and various childhood, education and technology experts to ensure the author’s personal and biographical approach landed in an authentic and helpful way.

Both Caroline and Nick offer parent coaching to help parents as well as educators feel more present and ready to help their children and students use screens and technology in developmentally appropriate and safer ways in our ever expanding digital era. Their services are available virtually worldwide as well as in-person sessions in Atlanta.

Parental Control is available for purchase from booksellers nationally.
